Exciting Highlights from the 2026 Pong on Wheels Summer Tournament

Put aside your usual expectations of a tranquil Saturday. On July 18, 2026, the Pong on Wheels table tennis club held its Summer Table Tennis Tournament at the Rosemeade Rec Center in Carrollton, Texas, featuring Open Singles and Open Doubles events.

Singles: Five Divisions, One Wild Climb

Open Singles kicked things off with a preliminary round robin, and this is where it got interesting. Every player's finish in the round robin decided their fate: finish 1st in your group and you're battling in Division A, the top bracket. Finish 2nd, you're in B. And so on, all the way down to Division E. Five divisions, five entirely different battles for glory, all happening under one roof. All titles were up-for-grabs.

Division A was where the real fireworks were — this was the group fighting for cash. First place walked away with $200, second place took home $150, and third and fourth each pocketed $50. Every other division wasn't playing for cash, but nobody seemed to notice — beautiful trophies and serious bragging rights were more than enough to fuel some nail-biting rallies all the way down to Division E.

Doubles: Survive the Group, Fight for the Podium

Open Doubles brought its own brand of excitement. Ten pairs split into two groups of five, each grinding through a preliminary round robin. Only the top two teams from each group survived to play for positions 1st through 4th — meaning every single match in the round robin mattered. One bad game and a team's tournament could be over before the real fight even started.

And in true Pong on Wheels fashion, every doubles player walked away with more than a medal — each one received a shiny quarter ($0.25), a small but symbolic token of appreciation and a nod to future prosperity. Because every dynasty starts somewhere.
